    Things I Miss About Chicago

    • Intelligentsia Coffee. Now that my early mornings have gotten me back into the coffee habit, it would be wonderful to have access to an Intelligentsia location for the occasional cup.  I haven’t found anything here that can compare.  But I’m still trying.
    • The print version of The Onion. A small thing, I know, but I like reading the A.V. Club on paper instead of online.  Plus all the local concert listings… although Camera Obscura’s going to be in town this week, and I’m seeing Jenny Lewis next weekend.
    • The Chicago Card. I would have complained less about the CTA during my time in Chicago if I’d only known just how good I had it.  Sure, they eliminated the fare discount in January, but I totally took for granted the fact that I never needed cash to ride the train or the bus.  In Pittsburgh, I rely on bus passes, which requires paying in cash up front and waiting for a hand-written receipt.  The passes expire on Saturday, but there are hardly any stores open on Sunday in the city to sell the new ones.  Not to mention that you have to know the direction your bus is taking to know whether to pay when you board or when you get off.  So confusing!
    • Every little festival going on every week, not to mention, oh, Taste of Chicago, Pitchfork, Lollapalooza, etc. etc.
